Team Bug

This morning with the help of some friends and my Mom…

The June Bug and I got to play instead of work.  We took a video so you could share in the fun. I know, I say Saturday on the video, but I meant Wednesday.

Please read below to find out how we prepared to executed this stunt before it was demonstrated.

Thanks to everyone who helped and thanks for going along for the ride!

Lap The Bug Top Gear

Prep Work:

Planned stunt: I practiced for several days in our garage.

Protective gear: Helmet (I joke, but I would not have attempted this stunt without a helmet), Jeans, Long Sleeve Shirt, Boots

Off-Road: This stunt was done on private property in an area without traffic.

Backseat Driver: Experienced adult driver

Weather:  Sunny, dry, temperature was 40F

Speed: The car was in neutral. The speed was never more than 10 miles an hour

What a rush, huh?! You’ve got mad skills, Cole — Congrats on Lapping the Bug!
Debbie recently posted…Is that feeling more than just the blues? My Profile

  2. irene says:

Well done! Looks like you have the technique down to a *t*. Did the Coke truck provide a bit of good luck?

  3. Cole says:

Thanks. I need to get my time down a bi tho. The person I saw doing it was over 50 and I am pretty sure he was as fast as I was this morning.

  4. Cole says:

The last run was my best. Laying flat and swing into the window. My Mom said when she saw the Coke truck she knew it was a good sign. The guys were cheering for me at the end.

  5. rachel says:

Cole stuck the landing inside the car–very crisp and efficient. I give him a 10.

Also I must add that his hair looked devastatingly cool pre-helmet. I’d describe it as neo-Kramer.

  6. James says:

    Dam impressive. Good team work.

  7. Pam says:

This whole project has been so great. I haven’t commented but after today’s post felt like I have to extend my good job for the lap and for safety. I know helmet hair is a bummer but cracking your head open is more of a bummer. Kudos to your helpers too. Doesn’t look like you could have a better team Bug/Cole.
I’ve really enjoyed your blog and the effort you’ve put forth towards you project. it sounds like you’ve learned tons and had some fun a long the way. Thanks for taking me along for the ride :-D.

  8. Kate Pike says:

I’m glad you and June got some play time in together. All work and no play makes for a dull boy and a dull June Bug. The video was really good. I like how you managed to get the Coke truck in the video. You really moved fast across the Bug with your long legs that could not have been easy. Good Job.

  9. Ben says:

Moms are funny about helmets, you would think they would understand about helmet hair being so picky about their own hair. This was fun Cole-makes me wish I could have been a part of the crew. What’s next?

  10. Julianne says:

What a ride it’s been! I’m headed over this weekend to lend my John Hancock. You should be very proud.

  11. Vickie says:

Great job lapping the bug! Who knew such a thing was even possible?

I’m happy and proud to say I witnessed “The Adventures of Cole and June.” Thanks for letting me share in the fun!

  12. Joann says:

Wow…that was very cool! Thanks for letting me come along for the ride.

  13. Cole says:

I’m glad you came along! It was fun.

  14. Cole says:

Thanks for stepping up and helping to shoot the video! We are glad you came along! Next ride is for you!

  15. Cole says:

It’s happening. And your are right…it has been a ride!

  16. Cole says:

I know, right? My Mom has no respect for my hair. Next? Always something… If you are in the neighborhood come on over!

  17. Cole says:

It was fun. We were both getting a little bored with the daily grind. It took some practice to get the hang of swinging in. A little person would be quicker. The Coke truck was pure luck.

  18. Cole says:

Team Bug has been terrific. So much help from so many different places. I’m very lucky. Thanks for leaving a comment. Hope you’ll come along again.

  19. Cole says:

Thank you. I could not have done it with out them.

  20. Cole says:

Thank you Rachel–I knew you would drive the car like a pro but the way you handled the car and the video camera was sensational. My mom is calling you a stunt wrangler. And I appreciate that you are vouching for my hair. Neo-Kramer – I like it.
